On June 6, 1884, the Nebraska Nugget published a story of a cylindrical object that crashed on the prairie and left bits of machinery and gear wheels behind, glowing from the heat.

On December 13, 1884 a shining body came down from the sky crashing onto a field in Sorisole, near Bergamo. That was the first known case of a series of possibly UFO accidents in Italy.
