On May 18, 1957, Anna Martin, 68, of West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was found incinerated, leaving only her shoes and a portion of her torso. The medical examiner estimated that temperatures must have reached 1,700 to 2,000 degrees, yet newspapers two feet away were found intact.

Anonymous witnesses saw a disk dive down and explode, showering the area with fragments. Some samples were gathered, sent to a Brazilian newsman, analyzed by friends of Dr. Fontes of Rio, and were found to consist of surprisingly pure magnesium.

Witnesses: FAA(CAA) tower personnel, R.M. Kaser and E. G. Brink, reliable observers with 23 years of airport tower control experience between them.

 

Weather: Light rain.

 

A lighted object came down steeply at the east end of runway 26, left the flight line, crossed runways, taxiways, and unpaved areas at about a 30 degree angle, and proceeded southwest towards the control tower at an altitude of less than 100 feet. Observed through through 7x binoculars, the object appeared to be eggshaped, having no wings, tail, or fuselage, and was elongated vertically. It appeared to be fifteen to twenty feet tall, about the size of an automobile standing on its nose, and had a single white light at its base. Both Kaser and Brink emphatically stated that the object in no way resembled an aircraft.

 

When the object was about 3000 feet ENE of the tower, it stopped completely and hovered for about a minute. Then it began moving again, slowly at first, but then suddenly climbing at an extremely rapid rate of speed until it disappeared into the overcast sky. The object was in clear view at all time, with no intervening obstructions, according to the two men.

 

At this point Kaser and Brink phoned the CAA Radar Approach Control(RAPCON) unit to ask them if they could detect a fast target to the east. RAPCON was using CPN-18 surveillance radar at that time. Radar showed that the target moved eastward, then turned south at very high speed until it reached the vicinity of the Albuquerque Low Frequency Range Station, where it circled for several minutes. Then it came back towards Kirtland until it took up a position behind an Air Force C-46 that had just taken off. It stayed in position behind the C-46 until they both moved out of radar range.

On November 6, 1957 in Playa del Rey, California, a Richard Kehoe was driving near the beach when his engine stopped, and so did three other cars. The man got out and observed an egg-shaped object wrapped in "a blue haze" on the beach. Two men, below average height got out of the craft and asked them questions about their identity, what time it was, etc. They looked normal wore black leather pants, white belts, light-colored jerseys, and seemed to have yellowish-green skin. They went back inside the craft, which left rapidly, and the cars could then be started.

On November 6, 1957 in Everittstown, New Jersey, a John Trasco saw a brilliant, egg-shaped object hovering in front of a barn and was confronted with a being 1 m tall with a putty-colored face and frog-like eyes. He thought the dwarf said in broken English: "We are peaceful people; we only want your dog." The little man, who was dressed in a green suit with shiny buttons, a green tam-o-shanter-like cap, and gloves with a shiny object at the tip of each finger, fled when the witness denied his request.

Nov. 6, 1957; Radium Springs, New Mexico. 10:50 p.m. Witnesses: one Las Cruces policeman, one Dona Ana County Deputy Sheriff. One round object--changing from red to green to blue to white-- rose vertically from a mountain top. Sighting lasted 10 minutes.

1957 France: Jacques Chapuis, astronomer at Toulouse Observatory saw a maneuvering yellow star-like object for 5 minutes on November 10. The UFO finally ascended straight up and out of sight.

Observed target on search radar. Ground speed about 25000 kt, altitude at least 30000ft. recorded on scope camera. observed by other radar sites across Canada

 

I was an early warning radar operator in the USAF on St Lawrence Island. We observed a target, unidentified, in Soviet airspace heading east at high speed. Our first thought was that it was some type of missile. We turned on the scope camera and notified the site commander. The object was estimated at 25000kt. The first contact was at about 200 miles, which would make it very high or very large.

UFO over Corpus Christi near naval yard on November 10, 1957

 

My wife, my mother and myself we on our way to a baseball game. As we were passing the naval yard a brightly glowing ball of light came down and almost hit our car. I pulled off the road. We were terrified. The light was like magneseum burning it was so bright. After a minute or so it shot up into the sky so fast we could hardly track it with our eyes. My mother suggested that we leave and notify the authorities. While driving the craft was following us at a high altitude. The first house we stopped at would not let us use the phone. We stopped again and made our call. The people that talked to me said what we saw was a weather balloon. I told him ((word deleted--equivalent of "No!"), I know what I saw and it was not a weather balloon. To this day I remember it like it happened yesterday.

In 1957, when most ufologists were still debating the wisdom of publishing reports indicating that UFOs could in fact land and leave ground traces, Mexican newspaper El Universal Gráfico published a comprehensive account on the alleged landing of a discoidal object in the community farms of San Juan de Aragón, an event witnessed by farmer Gilberto Espinoza. Although the incident had taken place in November of the preceding year, the newspaper ran its story in January 1958.
